Missouri will fund 2,000 St. Louis area youth jobs next summer

Governor Nixon announced Missouri will help fund 2,000 summer jobs for low-income youth ages 16-21 next year. Intended to teach the basic foundational skills and values for work ethics, these jobs will include both private and government positions subsidized by the state at $8 an hour and up to 30 hours a week. Funding will mainly come from the government’s main welfare program, the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families.
